Yesenia “Yesi” Olmedo,

Meet our team

Yesenia “Yesi” Olmedo is a doctorate prepared nurse practitioner, board certified in both family medicine and mental health psychiatry. Yesi grew in up California, but frequently traveled to Mexico and witnessed the complications of undiagnosed diabetes and its impact of the body, including limb amputations and strokes.

Education

Yesi attended University of Missouri-Kansas City and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 2013. She worked in various units, such as a telemetry- step down unit at Truman Medical Center (currently known as University Health), Burnett’s Burn Center at the University of Kansas Medical Center, as well as in the float pool, working on various units at North Kansas City Hospital.

Passionate about preventative care, Yesi decided to return to school and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner in 2018 from University of Central Missouri and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Missouri State University- Springfield in 2022. As a family nurse practitioner, she worked in primary care at Vibrant Health, public health at Jackson County Health Department, and completing in- home-health assessment within Jackson County.

However, throughout this journey, it became apparent that there were obstacles in improving health care outcomes with many mental health conditions being undiagnosed and unmanaged. Soon after, Yesi completed a post-master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, through the University of Missouri- Columbia, in 2023.
